Title: NORTH FORK KALEIDOSCAPE

When I moved to the Western Slope of Colorado, I was taken back by the green skies at sunset .This painting encompass’ the vastness of the region. I was able to capture All the colors of thirty miles in five feet of canvas. I concentrated on brush strokes, minimal and multi-layered. The gray juniper log in the foreground as my vantage point is part of the remains of a forest fire twenty years prior.

Title: NATIVE SUNSET
As I started this painting, I wondered how the indigenous artists perceived their surroundings. I wanted to use a translucent brush stroke on the distant canyon. The colors are more absorbed and not reflected in the desert. There are so many micro-environments in this region. I could feel the coolness of green valley beyond.
